Twin Kingdoms

The Twin Kingdoms

For centuries, Argonn and Glasrayn have been referred to as “the Twin Kingdoms” thanks to their separation from the rest of Drakensban by the Gulf. But in the near future, they may very well undergo a true unification. The young King Theold is due to marry Princess Kaia‚ÄźAnn of Glasrayn, an arrangement organised by Theold and Kaia-Ann’s father, King Parrin. The marriage would cement these erstwhile rival lands as allies and ultimately lead to their union into a single nation.

Political tension is high between Argonn and Glasrayn at present, because whilst many support this play for peace, others do not. Nobles feel threatened as a unified royal family may remove them from their current positions in line to the throne; merchants feel that their businesses will be damaged if the border disappears and open travel and trade become encouraged; peasants remember loved ones lost in recent wars. In both Argonn and Glasrayn resistance movements have appeared, stirring up public outcry against the marriage and attempting to prevent it by any means.
